BRUNEI for 2D/1N

KAMPONG AYER a.k.a WATER VILLAGE


Kampong Ayer is also known as “The Venice of the East”, the infamous Water Village on a literally breathtaking water taxi rides and walks around to witness the houses on stilts. It is one of the world’s largest water villages. It has floated over the shallow of the Brunei River for at least four centuries. It currently homes 30,000 people. Now, despite being furnished with modern facilities, the water village maintains its traditional colourful and lively environment. You will capture the essence of it all with a home visit for tea & local cakes and a visit to a privately owned museum in the water village.












THE ROYAL REGALIA BUILDING


The Royal Regalia Building and its unique collection of Royal Bruneian artifacts were established to commemorate the 1992 Silver Jubilee of His Majesty’s accession to the throne. You will see the ceremonial regalia on display which includes the royal chariot, gold and silver ceremonial armory, the traditional jewel-encrusted coronation crowns and a replica of the throne used by His Majesty on state occasions. An exhibition documenting the history of Brunei’s constitution may also be inspected.







TAMU KIANGGEH


Tamu means market and Bandar’s tamu is on the banks of the Kianggeh River. Here, is where you’ll find a variety of local produce. Among the items you may find are medicinal herbs and local delicacies. Handicraft shoppers may find good bargains here. Good buys include tudung dulang (decorative food cover), pemarang (machete-like knife) and local foods like kueh cincin and jala.







MERIMBUN HERITAGE PARK


Birdwatchers, botanists and nature lovers will appreciate the jungle tracks and the peaceful ambience surrounding Brunei’s largest lake. The small island in the centre of this unusual S-shaped body of water can be reached via a wooden walkway. Here, picnic pavilion facilities fashioned from logs enhance the enjoyment of this restful spot. Chalet facilities for researchers are also available nearby.




SERI KENANGAN BEACH

Literally the “unforgettable beach” the beaches appeal is the magical effect created by a narrow spit of land that separates the mirror-smooth Tutong River from the broad, ruffled waters of the South China Sea. It is a popular recreation area where Chalets, restaurants, huts, a playground and food stalls are also available.






MIRI for 2D/1N

LOAGAN BUNUT BIRD WATCHING


Tucked away on the upper reaches of Sungai Bunut in the Miri Division is the Loagan BunutNational Park, Sarawak’s largest natural lake. The lake covers 650 hectares of Loagan Bunut National Park total acreage of 10,736 hectares. A rich variety of flora and fauna composed mainly of peat swamp forest supports a large and varied bird life in this area. Loagan Bunut is a unique lake, especially with its seasonally fluctuating water level. This creates a rich habitat for wildlife, especially birds and aquatic life, making the Park birdwatcher’s paradise. Travel by vehicle and longboat to Loagan Bunut, the home of Sarawak’s largest natural lake. Try your hand at traditional net fishing. Take a bird watching cruise, as well as visiting Long Teru, and Marudi.
